KO HUIARAU and NGATI WIKITORIA

Ngati Wikitoria was the 8th tribe of Te Tiriti o Waitangi along with Ngapuhi, Ngati Whatua Tainui ,Te Arawa ,Kahungunu, Te Atiawa, and Waitaha. These 7 waka rohe or tribal areas have been in place since 1808 when there was a sovereign government of Aotearoa – Te Runanga Ko Huiarau.

The name Ngati Wikitoria was gifted by the Taiopuru as part of Te Tiriti

O Waitangi in 1840 as an invitation to be the 8th tribe of Aotearoa and share governance 50/50 in the Ko Huiarau Parliament.

Ngati Wikitoria only exists from 6th February 1840 and is not recognised in He Whakaputanga. This waka Te Kotuku Rerengatahi aka as White Heron was gifted by the Taiopuru Waikato Tairea at the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Ngati Wikitoria were virtually put to sleep on 6th Feb the same as the other 7 waka because the Chiefs signed on the Union Jack that brought through the Pakeha treaty and their recognition of all being British subjects because of flag etiquette.Proper sovereign recognition was not gained until the setting up of the Kotahitanga Parliament in 1889, Kotahitanga was the political arm of Ko Huiarau. It is that ropu that was recognised as being the kaitiaki of the League of Nations when it was established in 1920 after WWl, a position it held til 1947 when the Ko Huiarau parliament went into voluntary recess due to lack of funds

that the NZ government had borrowed to fund armies for the Boer war and 1st and 2nd World wars.

The UN then took over the role of the League of Nations. Ko Huiarau had been given a seat in the League of Nations because of the Chiefs giving consent for the Rights of Man and the GAT seals to be used

The League of Nations 1920 – 1947 and the GAT ( General Agreement of Trade) seals were the right to trade between Monarchies- sovereign nation to sovereign nation.

The United Nations and GATT ( General Agreement of Trade & la riff) gives the rightttilrad b lween Governments and/or Rothschild formed Republics.

We still hol the GA’T s.eals and the Rights of Man today and the seat still sits in the United Nations.

Ko Huiarau has been re-instated since 1997and so sovereignty sits with

us today ,-the Upper House is in place, we just need numbers from the hapus in ea<;o ‘.Vaka rohe and Ngati Wikitoria to reinstate the Lower House.

I feel and see Ko Huiarau and Ngati Wikitoria as being the only way forward for our cultures together in partnership – unity without discrimination and prejudice.

Peace and abundance can only happen when the Law comes from those out in the fields or at work as active members in their own communities/hapus. They can see if something needs changing for the betterment of individuals or the whole community/hapu. This is known as “localism” – a bottom up way of creating change.
